Lunch + Learn Garden Series

Meet us under The Rose Farm Garden Pavilion for a two-hour garden lunch + learn experience. Guests will first enjoy a three-course lunch prepared by the Doolittle Farm team and then take a tour of the farmstead. Following lunch + a tour, a presentation will be shared about an engaging farm topic.  Each guest will leave with a beautiful bundle of freshly harvested flowers or a gift from the farm. March 29th: Starting a Dream Garden. Whether you want to grow a cut flower or vegetable garden, you will learn all about seed starting 101, soil preparation, pest management, and garden mapping.

April 26th: Stars of the Farm - Ranunculus + Peonies. Ranunculus and peonies are two of the most beautiful flowers we grow at the farm, and we want to tell you all about them. Topics to be discussed include growing, harvesting + digging up both ranunculus + peonies.

May 3rd: It's Dahlias Y'all. Have you always wanted to grow dahlias in your garden? Are you wondering if you really have to dig them up + store them? We will share all of our tips + tricks on growing dahlias.

June 14th: Everything is coming up Roses. Listen + learn from Leslie Hunter, Horticulture Manager of Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, as she shares her knowledge on growing roses. You will learn how to choose what grows best in zone 5, feeding, mulching, pest management + planting.

July 12th: Lavender, Oh That Sweet Smell. Who doesn't love lavender? Join the expert lavender farmer Erin Dougherty to learn how to grow, harvest + dry lavender so you can enjoy the aromatic aroma all season.
