Mother's Day Cake Decorating Using Fresh Flowers

Join May Thompson, the incredibly talented cake designer, from Parinda Cupcakes for a two-hour, hands-on workshoppe on Saturday, May 3rd —just in time for Mother’s Day! In this workshoppe, you’ll learn how to frost a five-inch cake with buttercream, practice easy border piping, and top it with gorgeous, fresh blooms from the gardens at Rose Farm. It’s the perfect way to celebrate Mom with something heartfelt, handmade, and beautiful. Take your finished cake home to gift to Mom, share with family, or enjoy together as a sweet and thoughtful Mother's Day treat. All tools are provided. This workshoppe is designed for hobbyists and fun enthusiasts—not for professional bakers or those pursuing a career in cake design. Please note: The final cake may vary slightly from the reference photo depending on flower availability.

About
May Thompson

I’m May, the cake designer and owner of Parinda Cupcakes, a family-owned, home-based cake boutique in Des Moines. Originally from Thailand, I moved to the U.S. in 1995. Before starting my cake business, I spent 12 years as a graphic and web designer, which fueled my love for creativity and design. That passion naturally carried over into cake decorating, where I treat each cake as a canvas—specializing in botanical designs, intricate buttercream flowers, and hand-painted details. What began as a simple cupcake bouquet for a friend turned into my dream business. My mission is simple: to craft delicious, beautiful creations that become the centerpiece of your most special moments.
